monster project

for my monster project i got elora, a brown bear like monster with two thick legs, i plan to connect the legs together for a front on view so it can stand

overall i think my monster turned out very well, the hands are probably the hardest thing i worked on it was hard to get the shape of the claws even for all fingers. i have yet to get Elora out of the kiln so the glazed image is not here yet.

sgraffito project

im not much of a traditional artist i would say that my art is on par with the average 2nd grade girl, so my only hope for this piece is that i do not snap it in half halfway through my attempt at drawing.

well it didnt snap in half but it might as well have, i did not like doing this project. i felt restrained from what i usually feel doing ceramics it ended up being one of my worst pieces so far and i scrapped it.

slab slump mold project

i want to make a little plate as a christmas gift for one of my parents so im thinking of just using a small amount of clay and seeing how it pans out.

relief carved revisited project

last relief tile i did was bad. so for this one im thinking of a city scape of a bunch of different sized buildings with underglaze windows and other details

reflection

like my past two projects i did not have enough time to finish this before thanksgiving break, so far though it is how i envisioned

city ceramic progress.jpg

i made a square teacup like i said i would but it is currently in the kiln and i wasnt able to make much progress before thanksgiving break.

i decided to make my piece water lily's by Claude Monet as it had been one of the most impactful pieces of my childhood growing up as we have a painting in my house.

Claude Monet was the artist
He painted multiple water Lily pieces ranging from the late 1890s to his death in 1926
He was trained by Eugène boudin
He is regarded as the father of imperialism
I picked the artist because my father has had a painting of water lilys in his room since I could remember
To make it I used a slab and little bits of clay that were slashed up to create the texture of greenery
A challenge I had was having to score and slip each individual piece of greenery on my piece but it turned out to be worth it as it gave my price a much more natural feel rather than just a hunk of clay I used an assortment of blue underglazes, dark green and leaf green for the actual Lily I used flame red
